Papers of Milton L. Grigg [manuscript], 1900-1980, bulk 1945-1980.

The collection contains slides of church architecture in Europe, the United States and Virginia including projects by Grigg; views of Jeffersonian buildings, the Monticello restoration and domestic and vernacular architecture of Virginia; travel scenes in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, the Far East and Australia; and family life. With these are photographs of homes and churches designed by Grigg; some professional correspondence; project listings, 1942-1972; notes re his travels particularly to Australia in 1958 and on a European study tour of churches, 1961; descriptions and publicity for churches designed by Grigg; and a photograph album of work on his own residence. Of interest are a watercolor of Pavilion IX, University of Virginia; slide show presentation notes and audiotape on church architecture; several boxes of photographs of homes and churches, chiefly Virginian, possibly assembled for a book on vernacular Virginia architecture. Among them is a photograph of St. Peter's Church, New Kent County, Virginia, with a group of Union officers (from McClellan's staff) posing (during the Peninsula Campaign May-June 1862) [Box 14; Folder 5].
